THYLACOLEO

For over a million years, marsupial lions fostered the land that was known as Sahul,
a land mass comprised of Australia, NewGuinea, Tasmania, and the Aru Islands. With many other species by their side, they kept the land in balance.

65,000 years ago, humans arrived, and though the leos tried to make contact, the humans were too afraid, and kept them at bay. For 15,000 years, the humans grew accustomed to this new land, and began to fit in, and the leos let them be.

Until, their hands held fire, and so they scorched the trees, and dried the rivers, hunt down the beasts, and blacken the skies. The leos tried to fight, but it only hurt them more, until 15,000 years later, the leos claimed their home once more, now, however, under the shadow of humans. 15,000 years later, around the early 2000’s, a little Thylacoleo, found his way into the warmth of someone else. He grew to know little of what he was, let alone who he was, until one fine day, he met someone so different yet the same, as though looking into a river’s reflection, and changed the course
of his people, and others, forever.
